Anemone

Anemone

Known as "wind flowers" because their stalks tremble in the wind, these members of the buttercup family favour open areas and roadsides. Anemones contains a toxic compound that can irritate skin. Aboriginal peoples washed wounds in a salve made of anemone leaves and roots, and it is thought that some chewed the roots before singing to clear their throats.
